Tip: A Coach's Toolbox > Wait Time
Wait time is an important skill for educators, but one we find difficult to practice. The average time teachers wait for a response is about 1 second. Embrace a brief silence before and after questions and see if your students provide higher-level, longer responses. You might also see increased student engagement! \
Likewise, a key practice in every coach's toolbox is wait time. Get comfortable with the silence to allow yourself and your coachee time to think. But don't wait too long... 20 seconds, and it becomes awkward.
