PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The SEED +2 Professional Development program supports teachers in transforming their classrooms into highly engaging, innovative, and student-centered learning communities incorporating engineering design tasks across the core subject areas. The program extends our instructional model to include a focus on STEM and using design to solve problems identified in students' rural communities. The SEED +2 PD Program is funded by the federal Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant Program. |
FORMAT AND CONTENT
The SEED +2 Professional Development program provides one year of sustained, evidence-based professional development facilitated by either an eMINTS professional or a school-based teacher leader. Teachers engage in face-to-face and online training as cross-curricular teams, they receive personalized coaching, and participate in an online community of practice. Teams will submit two original interdisciplinary design-based lesson plans that have been implemented in the classroom. While the program has a STEM priority, the PD addresses all aspects of effective instruction for modern, digital age classrooms including involving students in real-world, relevant inquiry; building a positive classroom environment where students feel safe to collaborate with others; designing standards-based lessons that engage students in rigorous problem-solving; and using technology as a fundamental tool for high-level and transformative learning. |
