Tip: The Persistence Phase > Authentic Learning

When things get tough in the academic year, try incorporating more #AuthenticLearning to reignite your and your learners’ motivation.
Try:
- Problems: Start with an empathy-based problem that your students, school, or community are facing. Make it real-world and relevant to your learners with no one right answer that learners could @Google to find. EXA: How might we make our building more accessible?
- Community: Get the community involved. Have a big idea? Ask community members for their donations, time, support, or resources. EXA: Who might offer us support and how?
- Extracurriculars: Offer more clubs and opportunities for learners to get involved. EXA: Reading or book clubs, gaming gatherings, art nights
- Speakers: Invite guest speakers in to present to learners. Have experts on topics or subjects share their knowledge. EXA: A local banker comes to talk to high school students about personal finance and budgeting.
- Inquiry: Offer inquiry-based opportunities for learners. Foster curiosity because interest = motivation. EXA: What might you be interested in, and how can we use that in class?
