Tip: Level Up AI Learning > Lesson Design
While AI has some highly useful pros–including efficiency and scalability, it also has some downfalls–including quality concerns, lack of creativity, and absence of human touch and editing skills. AI can generate content creation for the lesson-planning process and save copious amounts of time; however, human input, revision, and generation remain crucial for adding authenticity, context, and emotional connection to the content that AI generates.
Now, we are sharing tips on how to use AI-generated content as a starting point for planning and also how to level up your instruction of that content in each of the four eMINTS Instructional Model Quadrants: High-quality Lesson Design, Community of Learners, Authentic Learning, and Powered by Technology.
First up is #HighQualityLessonDesign: Last month, we gave the example of using @OpenAI’s #ChatGPT to “Write a PBL for 5th-grade math.”
Now, take the lesson plan that this AI tool generated, and add your own human touch. Here are some ideas to level up AI learning within the High-Quality Lesson Design quadrant:
- Build your PBL around an empathy-driven question. For example: “How could we make our school building more accessible for our peers who might have physical disabilities?”
- Make the topic of the AI-generated PBL lesson plan something more on par with student interest. Consider asking learners what the topic of their PBL might be.
- Revise the content to align more closely with your respective state’s learning standards.
