Paraphrase Passport

The Paraphrase Passport is a discussion strategy useful in processing new information and clarifying understanding. It can be used with partners, small groups, or whole-class discussions. In this structure, students must listen, pause, and paraphrase what the previous person said before they can add their own ideas, resulting in improved listening, summarization, and speaking skills.
