The Divide and Conquer cooperative learning strategy is a good way to share the responsibility for a large amount of reading content among members of collaborative teams. Give students time to "teach" one another the information gained and then plan, talk, and DO something with the content to move the activity beyond "group" work to "collaborative" work.
