Assessments are a great way to gain insights into learners’ understanding, learning, and growth. They can be used formatively–assessment FOR learning and assessment AS learning–or summatively (assessment OF learning).
- Assessment FOR Learning: Formative, Ongoing, Regular monitoring of learning intentions, success criteria, and giving/receiving feedback
- Assessment AS Learning: Assessment of Self are used to allow students to regularly reflect on their learning
- Assessment OF Learning: Outcome-based, Future learning that provides evidence of achievement and understanding
