Cooperative learning structures can be used for many purposes: brainstorming, community-building, reflection, and much more! This month, we are highlighting FIVE cooperative learning strategies to use in your classroom to prompt brainstorming with your learners!
Next up: Graffiti Wall! To use this strategy:
- Place learners into teams. (Consider using an eMINTS Grouping Strategy.)
- On the whiteboard or chart paper, record a title for a graffiti wall.
- Ask learners to write comments and/or draw pictures to reflect their thoughts on the topic.
- Learners consider: What do they know and remember? What have they experienced?
- Participants should also respond to the comments of others on the wall. They might use arrows to connect their ideas to those of others.
- Ask teams to discuss and summarize what they see or what conclusions they might draw from the wall.
