Cooperative learning structures can be used for many purposes: brainstorming, community-building, reflection, and much more! This month, we are highlighting FIVE cooperative learning strategies to use in your classroom to prompt brainstorming with your learners!
Next up is Group Write! To use this strategy:
- Place learners in groups of 3 to 6. (Consider using an eMINTS Grouping Strategy.)
- Provide each group one piece of chart paper and each individual in the group a different color marker.
- All group members write as many ideas as they can generate around a given topic within a given time limit.
- Have group members discuss and summarize their ideas. Groups write their finalized idea.
- Finally, have the group develop a title for their chart and record it at the top.
- Use a Round Robin or Stand and Share strategy to share the group’s ideas they have written with the whole class.
