When establishing norms, you could use physical items such as sticky notes and anchor charts, collaborative documents (like Google Docs) or surveys (like Google Forms) synchronously, or use word clouds or polling applications in an asynchronous learning environment.
First, ask the group: What might make our class pleasant and meaningful?
No matter how you establish norms, gain consensus with the group, and keep the number of group norms between 3-5 to attend to. Having too many norms is too hard to manage.
