Jigsaw is a cooperative learning strategy with a twist; students learn through the process of communicating with one another about a given skill, procedure, topic or problem. Each learner in a team becomes "expert" in one aspect of a topic. Students meet with members from other groups who are assigned the same aspect. After exploring the material, experts return to their home teams to teach the material to their home team members. With this strategy, each learner in each team serves as a critical piece of the topic's jigsaw.
